D-man Boxes - Looking for some Imput

I'm work on the Hockey Pool I organize. It's a box format and this is what I have so far. You might have you favorite guy BUT can you make a case for selecting ever player in that box. If you feel that one player will dominate a box or he should be dropped to a lower box let me know. Or any Defenceman I should add.

Points Only - Goals 1pt Assists 1pt

Gonchar and Lidstrom are missing because I'm throwing then in a box with some frowards.

I'd swap Visnovsky with Boyle and call it a day...looks great.

Mark Sreit in box3? That implies that he'll have 45-50 points. I know what Dobber says, but I disagree with him too. I think he's a 40 point d-man at best. 35-40 Points is most realistic for him in my opinion.

I think defense boxes should be broken down into these sections(not all " major" d-men are listed in each section of my personal list. Just wanna give you an idea of what most d-men are capable of IMO):

Box 1= 65-70 point guys: Lidstrom, Gonchar. Those kinds of guys

Box 2= 60-64 point guys: Phaneuf, Rafalski, Green, Boyle types.

Box 3= 55-59 point guys: Campbell, Markov, Kaberle, Pronger types

Box 4= 50-54 point guys: Chara, Corvo, Jovonovski, Visnovsky


Box 5= 45-49 points

Box 6= 40-44 points

Do you see Streit as a 55-59 point guy? Cause I just cant see it on the Island, even if they do try him out at forward.

In that case, I'd also add some of the following guys: Enstrom, Hainsey, Roszival, Coburn and Liles.

I'll give points projection for each d-man. If you do extended stats or want to factor age into their value, I'm not addressing that at all.

Bettman9 - I actually think you nailed your boxes the way you have them.

As you said, you should be able to make a case for picking any player in any given box. Sure Visnovsky may light it up this year, but he just as easily may not.

Box pools are like "choose the best answer" multiple choice questions, with an element of gambling involved. they don't necessarily have to include every player, and there should always be a safe route to pick and a few risky ways to pick. i think you have that.

Streit seems to be my biggest mistake - I'll move him to to Box 5
