I wonder how long these lines will last...I mean, perhaps 3-4 games of low scoring ineffective offense will be enough to through the tandem back together.
I own zetts and don't like my competitors with hossa/datsyuk benefiting over me.
Babock tried last year to separate Dats and Zett, and let them played center. Didn't work, but I think it could work this year, because of Hossa, and will have two great scoring lines. (Maybe Babock want to copy Pittsbugh with Crosby and Malkin playing center of two lines?)
Babcock has tried it every year, multiple times. Every time the Wings struggle he'd separate them. He'd love nothing more than to put out Datsyuk and Z on different lines since in that case he'd have two #1 shutdown lines.
Add in Hossa who is also probably just as good defensively as Datsyuk and Z and there you have it.

Scary line combos there. Hossa is a perfect Detroit player too...very good offensively and a strong defensive player. When will teams start building like Detroit does.

Watched the Senators a lot back in the day when they had Alfredsson, Hossa and Havlat. The big concern then was that they were all RW'ers. Havlat eventually made the transition to the left side, but Hossa is definitely a RW'er. He does shoot left handed though, which would make LW his natural side. I say he can play either.
Oh and Babcock should have learned by now. Him trying to break up Zetterberg and Datsyuk is the same as Ottawa always trying to break up the Alfie-Heater-Spezza line, it just doesn't work.

Holmstrom can play the LW so there's the problem solved.

Ottawa has never had two elite centers to do it with. For arguments sake let's say Franzen tops out as a 30 goal guy - even that accompanied with Zetterberg is enough to make both of them produce a ton. The reason it didn't work in the past was that neither of them had anything to work with. Datsyuk with Filppula and Holmstrom worked fine defensively and could create chances but nothing consistent. Zetterberg with Franzen (pre-breakout) and Samuelsson was fine defensively but wasn't consistent. Add in Hossa for Filppula and Franzen's new confidence and there's zero reason it can't work.
While it's all about winning in Detroit Hossa makes it possible for Detroit to ice the best and most balanced lines in hockey. It may not be ideal for fantasy but for everything else it's perfect.
