Would you make this deal, and which side wins the deal?

Price
Ward
2010 1st round pick

4

Backstom (Washington)
Vanek

I would be receiving the latter players, and am dealing from a position of goaltending strength.

Is it a fair deal? What do you guys think?

Who are your other goalies? If it cripples your goaltending, don't do it. If you still have good goaltending and are weak at forward, I'd take it. I personally think Backstrom is going to be the next superstar.

Not for me, I like Price too much, maybe Price and Ward without the 1st round pick is what I would be willing to give up.

I would agree, and if I could get this deal done without including my 1st rounder, I would, but the fact is, in getting back two offensive talents, the 1st rounder can't make or break it for me. My other goalies are Nabokov, and Fleury. It would be a win/win, in that we would both be addressing our most glaring weaknesses, but I think they may balk at the thought of including 2 offensive talents, even though goaltending is more crucial in our pool.

Which Ward? Aaron, Cam, Jason or Joel?

If it's Cam then that pick is unnecessary. The deal then becomes fairly equal in value, although I think there is an intrinsic value in goaltenders for most leagues that will elevate their worth and therefore I think the side giving the goalies is losing the deal by a bit even after taking out the pick.

price should be more than enough for backstrom alone. Ward and a first for vanek, no thanks. You may be meeting your needs by doing this, but you are giving up more talent. Regardless if you have the depth or not, move talent for equal talent and nothing less.

I really don't see how anyone can answer this without knowing the details of the pool? What kind of pool is it? etc

You don't huh? Well assume normal and something not off-the- wall bizarre and I think you will find it is pretty straightforward.

Another reason to answer without knowing is that after 20 times in a day asking for additional information because you think it matters to the feedback you give - you get tired of asking and when a fairly benign situation comes up, you simply go for it.

You came across as pretty condescending to those of us who made an effort here. I personally don't appreciate it.

I will give a bit more info here...Its a keeper league, 16 teams, 4C, 4LW, 4RW, 6D, 2G. The point categories are as follows...

Goals, Assists, +/-, Pims, GAA, SV%. It is a salary cap league, but all the players involved in this potential deal, are very affordable.

The truth is, I would rather not move Price, but if I can address my needs, and cut some corners to putting my team in contention, I would do it. As you can see by the point categories, goaltending makes up 2 of 6, or roughly 29% of the points, as there is a little more weight given to the goals and assists.

Thanks for your opinions,

Puck
