Langkow for Vokoun?

I'm in a 12 team, 288 player, dynasty league (no cap) where we start two goalies - points are averaged per week. Right now I have Giguere, Gerber, Halak, and Bernier.

My centers (start four) are Crosby, Malkin, Kopitar, Roy, Langkow, Berglund.

Would you trade Langkow for Vokoun?

Depends a little on your stats line I think. Especially what are your goalie stat categories. You get to keep all in your league?

Considering your goaltending and the fact that Langkow struggles to be one of your keepers, I wouldn't hesitate too much. You appear to be able to put together trades that acquire the monsters. I can't help but wonder that you might aim higher. Three decent pieces like Langkow, to try and land one of the 100 point goalies. I see Langkow as middling. When all is going right, he's on the bottom end of the usable centres. If he ever gets separated from Iggy, he'll drop back to 50ish points. He's respected for his overall abilities and work ethic. Vokoun is a great tender going to get 70 starts for a bad team. I'd figure about a point per game in comparison to his starts.

Without knowing much, I think I'd do it only if Vokoun is the best goalie you could get. If it's points only, maybe look into dealing Roy for a close to elite goalie.

Thanks for the response.

In our league, goalies get 0.2 pts per save, minus one for a goal against, and five points for a win. Since games are averaged, a backup goalie who does well in one game can get more points than a starter who gets two or three starts.

skaters get 5 pts per goal, 3 per assist, one for +/-, 0 for PIM

We get to keep all players indefinitely, so I'm pretty well set for the future at center. I've managed to pick up a lot of prime young talent before the other owners in my league, one reason due to this website.

I'd like an "elite" netminder, but not sure if I'm willing to give up a Crosby, Malkin or Phaneuf to do so.

If I take Vokoun, I should be okay for the season, and hopefully Bernier will turnout pretty well in a year or two. If I don't, I'm putting too much stock in the health of Giguere and Gerber.

I'm really stuck on this one, but from what I hear so far sounds like a decent trade.

I would try and get Carey Price. It would cost more obviously but then you would have both Price and Halak.

I think the deal is okay - Vokoun gives you coverage in case of injury. Points wise you are essentially giving up what you will get in these players but obviously you aren't likely to play Langkow very much so the move makes sense.

Vokoun is a very good goalie on a crap team...but that crap team is improving so its very much the perfect buy low time for him. If you wont miss Langkow, I'd go for it

This is where I start to like Vokoun quite a bit. Last year he led the league in saves, and may well do it again this year. If we take last year's numbers for both Vokoun and Giguere you might be surprised to see who comes out on top:

Giguere: 35 wins, 117 goals allowed, 1391 saves = 336.2 points
Vokoun: 30 wins, 180 goals allowed, 2033 saves = 376.6 points

As long as Vokoun stays healthy enough to get his 70 games, I love his numbers in your format on a team like the Panthers. I'd do the deal.

Agreed, grad Vokoun while the offer is out there
