Gerber or Conklin?

Team in sig. I just signed Conklin (drafted Osgood last year for 1M, and he went for 12.5 in the auction this year) for 1M hoping he gets 20-25W maybe.
But, I'm working a deal with the team that has Gerber, and I should be able to throw Conklin for Gerber into the mix.
Who would you rather have? Both have the same cap hit and contract length, so just looking at stats. The other guy is trying to repeat, I'm looking to win now as well.
Important info I forgot: H2H league, weekly lineups.

Very easy question. Gerber. He's a starting goalie while Conklin is going to fight for the backup job in Detroit. Gerber is risky but I think he is in for a decent season.

You're doing your homework. In this instance you may be able to get Conklin out the door for Gerber with the other guy banking on the quality insurance policy Conklin represents. We all know that Gerber is likely a bouncy ride. A here and now guy, that you can't count on down the road, maybe even later this year. Even still, who's kidding who, Conklin wishes he could be Gerber! I'd be excited to trade my Conklin for Gerber. The only way you lose is if Osgood is injured for an extended period of time. If that happened, then I'd be worried that they might explore other avenues.

Starting vs. backup is an easy question, yes. However, I've got Luongo and Fleury in net ahead of whoever the third may be. I also forgot to mention that it's H2H with weekly lineups, meaning I can't just spot start whoever on a given night; they need to have a solid week ahead for me to bench Fleury or Luongo. Also mildly concerned that Fleury may get hurt again, although thats at the back of my mind.

It's Osgood either struggling or getting hurt that lead me to grab Conklin in the first place, since we know Conklin can sub in for an extended period of time comfortably, and is now behind the best defense in the league. And again, weekly starts is something I forgot, so Gerber/Conklin will be behind my main two each week unless I get struggling superstars or surging backups that I can't keep on the bench.
Thank you both for the replies - I always find each of your inputs well thought out throughout the forums.

I don't know that Osgood will start more than 50 games this year. There is the injury factor to osgood and maybe a slump. The wings will be even better than last year and Ty's salary is around $1 million (more or less) Gerber is $5illion and known to really SUCK after the all-star game..... I used to own Gerber it was a roller coater ride

On a 1yr deal I would go with Conklin. Detroit makes any goalie look good and Conklin isn't the exception. If he plays great, he would sign on for job security (another 2-3 yrs) for little money just like Osgood did. Gerber was out of his mind last october when he had Emery pouting and breathing down his neck, but when he's off - man...good luck! Besides, Ottawa may not be as solid defensively w/o Redden.
