I donno what mcgoo is on. But I don't think its that bad of a trade at all. Staal and Turco are studs. and you added some nice young talent in Jordan Staal, Doughty and Kessel. Maybe Mcgoo just has man love on his mind.

I think this was a decent trade - it will be interesting to see how Cammeleri rebounds and where Kovalchuk ends up after he gets traded this year - oh yes it will happen - but I think that the Staals and Doughty plus Turco would have been enough for this to happen, Kessel is just a little bonus and I've never been a Tanguay fan. And if you think you have a winner this year, then the upgrade in goal with the trade of two stars that may not be quite up to par this year was a good deal!

so you'd be the other manager no doubt? let me break it down for you. He's trading away three guys that will be ppg and one of the premier goal scoring LWs in the league and a young stud goalie for a bunch of prospects that may or may not pan out and an aging goalie. I like Eric Staal alot but his little bro isnt going to do squat anytime soon. Mark my words, you'll regret this one

Jordan staal isnt going to do anything soon eh? he led hossa, malkin and crosby in ice time the last few games of playoffs...he's moving to left wing to play with one of the best players in the game and where he scored 29 goals as a rookie LEFT WINGER. they want to make him happy to sign next year. Dudes going to rip this shit up!

talk is cheap dipshit, he's 3rd line center until proven otherwise, until that point its nothing more than speculation...if it plays out that he winds up 2nd line LW then I'll revise my opinion but until that point I'm treating him as what he is, 3rd line center on a deep offensive team.

I agree with DDP and PM4 : I don't see any rape here. Yeah, let's say the top player in the trade is Ilya Kovalchuk, allright. However, in a points only league, Eric Staal is a stud too, and not that far way from Kovalchuk when you don't consider the goal factor. Even closer than some will say... As for Tanguay and Cammalleri for Jordan Staal and Kessel, sure, Cammy and Tanguay will pay more this year, but Staal and Kessel should develop well, and yeah, Jordan could produce faster than we think. So, for the forwards, let's say we'll give an advantage to the other team, but Kovalchuk is in no way waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than Eric Staal. And let's not forget that Mad Max adressed a blatant need here : getting a real number one goalie. Turco is 33, but there are still some strong years left in this guy. He plays for a solid team, and he ranks among the elite at his position. For Dan Ellis ? Christ, come on : he wins big time, there, as this position was a weak spot. And you add to that a great prospect like Doughty, and Kuba that may look like a simple throw-in, but that for now is the guy that will probably QB Ottawa's power play ? All that being said, here's my verdict : NO RAPE ! And a suggestion to Mad Max : looking at your team, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to trade for an upgrade on defense. You've got some really interesting young guys that can turn into studs, but adding more certainty to this blue line would help. Good luck !
