What is going to happen with Khabibulin this year? Chicago can't keep him...can they? Where will he go? Will this season be his swan song?
Any thoughts or ideas would help me out a lot.
Thanks

I don't think Chicago will give up on Khabi...it just doesn't make sense. However, I think with a solid "backup" in Huet...I think his leash will be insanely short. I think it'll be a 70-30 split to start...and 30-35 games in it will be almost 50-50.

My only thought is that Chicago is over the cap with no way to move Nikki. I'd just send him to the minors to save the cap hit. They'd still be on the hook for half when he's picked up on waivers, but that would save them from moving a signifigant contract.

They didn't sign Huet to be the back-up. He wouldn't have signed there without assurances that he would be the starter. I still think a trade of Khabby to someone like the Kings would work as a bridge to get to Bernier...unless Labarbera & Ersberg really are the solutions.

Bulin is on the way out of Chi. They have cap issues and Huet was signed for a reason.

Bulin will get moved... no one may be able to absorb his 6.75 million salary at the moment, however at halfway through the season when the cap hit is just over 3 million, it may be a little more affordable to move him to a team who needs a helping hand between the pipes.

he is all but gone with huet signing there. As mentioned, it may not be before the start of the season but he will surely be gone before the trade deadline.

Three letters...K...H...L...
It's a great solution for both sides. Khabibulin plays in mother Russia and the 'Hawks get some much needed salary cap relief.

He'd be a good fit in L.A., Tampa, and according to the latest rumours part of a deal with Ottawa. They simply can't keep him, because of money. Huet didn't sign for all that dough, not to start. The KHL, actually makes sense.

I remember bringing up the idea of KHLBIBULIN i mean KHABIBULIN going over to Russia to play. I thought it was a total long shot...but maybe it does make sense.
Who knows...all I DO know is that if they are both in the lineup come October 5th or whatever, it's going to be a downward spiral of a situation for the Blackhawks. I see nothing but bad things coming from them both playing together...talk about drama haha.
