This kid was a dynamo in junior....playing well in the AHL. When is he gonna get a chance at top six minutes? Will it be with Edmonton, this team is so deep with young talent. With Brule coming in it seems he took a step backwards. What is this guys upside, when will he be in the show?

I second all your questions and look forward to reading replies from people who are in the know with this guy. I don't understand why he's not getting a shot....it must be something.

When's he get new feet?
Ramzi Abid led the Q in scoring twice and won't ever play in the NHL. I read a report rating his feet 5 out of 10 way back when.
Ian Laperriere was 2nd or 3rd in the Q in scoring. Sheldon Kennedy a huge Jr. scorer.
It doesn't always compute.

being amazing at shootouts doesnt mean you get top ice time in the nhl....see jussi jokinen this year. he will probobly find himself on the third line at best. schremp will eventually make it but the oilers have too many youngsters in the lineup ahead of him to make the crack

Usually the AHL is a better indicator of NHL performance, but there are still some exceptions to that. The NHL is clearly a different game, some players never quite put together all that is needed to stick up there, and often the window of opportunity is quite short.
That said Schremp will get more chances but is far from a lock. I agree that he'll land on the oilers soon enough and then struggle from there to establish himself.

Being from Edmonton, hopefully I can help. I think the main problems with Schremp are the X-factor as well as his playing style. He has always been a risky pick because he has been known to have attitude problems - namely supposedly shooting a puck at a ref at the end of a junior playoff game. However, he has supposedly matured in the last couple years in the AHL. However, he can still be kind of considered a boom or bust prospect because although he is a dynamo pp and offensive guy, he is not a very good skater by any means and itsn't very sound defensively (kind of a Jason Allison type). He hasn't played at all in the NHL because he is not someone you can put on the 3rd or 4th line and expect to check or play defensively - he needs a top 6 role so I feel they are treating him like a Spezza and taking their time. Plus, MacTavish is one to like defensively minded guys (Brodziak, Thoreson, Reasoner etc.) Personally, I have a strong feeling he might not make it to the big league full time. If he does, I can't really say his LTP but it would be 60-70+. His potential would be huge.

bowdown has a pretty good take on him.
schremp needs to get traded before he has any chance at establishing himself. no future for him in Etown.
