Lars Eller

Hey all,

Dobber has Eller down as a Center, which puts him most likely behind McDonald, Oshie and Berglund on the depth chart. However, a couple of other sites show him as a left winger, which St Lou will have more room at once Tkachuk and eventually Mr. Kariya are out of the way, Perron being the other. I think that finding room on the top two lines will decide whether Eller lives up to the upside that Dobber and others see from him, or relegates him to the two-way role that Hockey's future see of him.

Any insight into his adaptability at wing, and any other upside on whether he's going to be a point producer? Trying to decide whether to use a draft pick on him or not.

to my knowledge he is a LW primarily..

same thought he was a winger i dont think u can go wrong with him i think hes in the NHL in 09-10. Worse case scenario if he only ends up being a 3rd liner he can probly still put up 55 points in that spot.

From what I know his natural position is Center.. But he can play RW and LW also... Its hard to say what he will be when he gets to the nhl.. I have watched him play a few times and the guy has great vision and very strong puck control..

Eller was about a 1 PPG player in the Swedish Junior League(84GP-29G-48A). Last season, he split duties in Allvenska (Swedish 2nd division) and Elitserien (Swedish top league) scoring 2G and 8A so far in 33 pro games. Not to worry, most rookies in Europe only get 3rd or 4th line minutes - the top rookie at 10 points.

Eller should play full time for Frolunda in the Elitserien next season and be able develop further. His natural position is center which he has been playing so far. He projects as a capable playmaking 2nd liner. But with the good centers ahead of him STL may convert Eller to a winger.

As a side note keep an eye another one of STL's prospects, Simon Hjalmarsson who is a natural LW. He had 55G and 63A in 109 GP with 203 PIM. So far he has 2G and 4A in 11 pro games. Interesting, Hjalmarsson also plays for Frolunda.

It will be interesting to watch these 2 develop together next season.
