We can only keep prospects for 3 seasons. So really what I'm looking for is the greatest impact players (G, A, Pts, +/- PIM) over the course of those three years.
Top eligible players available this year are:
Stamkos Giroux P Berglund TJ Oshie F Brunnstrom Frolik Filatov Okposo Purcell Backlund Matthias
As I said, for rookies after their three years we have to either drop them or keep them as one of our 5 keepers (so top 60 type player). The majority of Rookies drafted will not reach that stuatus in that time frame, so really just looking for the greatest impact over the three years.
who are the top 7 or so, Thanks

why would you have a pool set up to reward short term prospect drafting?

It's a relatively new aspect of our pool...
what is the best way to do it? Have long term prospects 5-6 years of Malkin as a free keeper, or have three years for the player to make an impact?
Perhaps a number of games played?
What do other leagues do?

personally I like the games played. with that I also like forwards to be able to have at least one solid year(82 games) and preferably a little bit more in case they had a minor callup the previous year. I think 100 games for forwards is perfect. allows them to play 1 full season and possibly get that call up at the start of the year or at the end.
this allows an owner to see just what the kid can do over a full season and that gives us hopefully a better idea of what the future may hold for them. anything more than that and it can get a little dicey on whether your giving them to much time. for the most part not all prospects are going to come into their first year and rack up the points. having enough time to get a decent idea on their potential is a must when your dealing with the kids imo.

Rankings based on point totals over the next 3 years...
Stamkos (71+78+90 = 239) Okposo (51+56+65 = 172) P Berglund (49+54+62 = 165) Matthias (42+46+53 = 141) Giroux (26+46+53 = 125) Purcell (35+39+44 = 118) TJ Oshie (35+39+44 = 118) Filatov (0+55+61 = 116) F Brunnstrom (30+33+38 = 101) Frolik (28+31+35 = 94) Backlund (0+24+42 = 66)
I would definitely rank these guys differently on long term potential.

Ok I'll bite, I'd like to see how you rank these long term just because I liked some of your 3 year calls...
