Hey boys, I'm in a points-only keeper league that gives a bit extra for PPP.

There's 12 teams and I have the first pick (snake drafting). D are going to be taken quite early because this format makes the top tier D men quite valuable and goalies aren't worth enough to warrant a high pick. I'm thinking about taking another forward when it comes back to me in the 2nd round and a D to start the 3rd, depending on what's left. Assuming that this league will last another 2 years or so, how would you guys rank these guys (who I'm predicting will be available):

Alfredsson
Getzlaf
Kovalchuk
St Louis

The league is: 6 forwards, 4 D, 1 goalie

Thanks a lot

Points only with PPP, it's between Alfy and Kovy.

Since it's a keeper, you need to take Kovy.

Kovy is a supersniper. In a keeper he's the guy to take.

But, you said it's for two years. He will get around 85 pts for the next two year because he doesn't have the quality center he need, after that watch out, he'll be a 110 pts guy.

So, I think the logical choice for two years will be Getzlaf, who should get around 90 pts. More than two years, Kovy...

I agree with berni67 that Getzlaf will put up more points than Kovy over the next two seasons, while going beyond that Kovy has the highest upside.

+1 berni

yup if its for the next 2 years i would go getzlaf as well, he was 2nd in the NHL in PPA (32) this past season, while he only had 4 PPG his goals and shots were both down this year, reportedly due to that forearm injury he suffered lingering throughout the year. With Scotty back in the fold for the whole year, expect getzlaf to easily eclipse 40 PPP this year while kovy (without hossa) will struggle to match the 30 PPP he posted this past season. No positional requirements also makes it a lil easier to take getz over kovy.

Assuming positions matter, I would take Kovy regardless. Assuming position do not matter aside from D getting more points, then I concur with the field.

Much appreciated....I think I have a better idea what to do. Judging from the lack of talk on St Louis, you guys don't think he'll hit 100 again any time soon. I threw him in there just to see if I was making a mistake by not really considering him.

Thanks again

This is a no brainer! KOVY, KOVY , KOVY! He's young, he's had back to back 50 goal seasons, and he gets about 40 PP points a year. My second choice would be Alfie. I know he's the older then the rest of the guy's but he still can produce 80 to 90 points per season.
