had previously posted this but an expansion draft in the league is reducing the number of kept players.

initially protect 12 for an expansion draft. 2 players will disapper. afterwards protect three more from the remaining players.

AO, Stast, Dats, Kane, Backstrom, Joki, EJ, Whitney & Price are the absolutes (9)

I'm thinking Morrow, Hemsky, Mueller to bring up to 12.

Final three, assuming they are not taken would be Osully, JJ, & Carter.

Who do you think should be kept? I'm not planning on pushing for win this year and will be drafting prospects accordingly.

I would take Boyes over Carter - he'll get way more minutes and points than Carter.

I disagree.

Boyes is a 35 goal 25 assist type of guy.

Carter has a much higher upside and I see many changes in Philly town to give him his minutes.

Also, Whitney? I know it's a keeper, but he's out for 3-5 months not to mention how long it might take him to get back to 100%.

I agree with your top 12 except maybe Vishnosky for Whitney, as he could be a 50 - 60 pt guy in Edmonton if they surprise.

I think if Carcillo is still available when you keep 15, you should strongly consider him... 300 PIMS is 75 pts, add that to 40+ possible, he's got good side over an 75pt 40 pim guy.

I would definitely be protecting Carter! The guy gets 250 SOG and scores 70 points while not being highly ranked on Philly's depth charts. He is a monster! You can keep counting on these numbers, and much much more once Philly uses him as they should.

Also, given the fact that he will be out for the first three months of the hockey season, I would not be protecting Whitney, but JJ instead.

AO
Statsny
Kane
Backstrom
OJoki
Hemsk
EJohns
Price
Dats
Morrow
Visnovs
Whitney - his injury really hurts. Might fall some distance in a draft coming off 40 points.
Mueller
JCarter

OSull, Boyes

I don't know how valuable a 40 point D is in your league. I like Enstrom. I'm having a hard time getting on Boyes page, but he's put up good numbers 2 of the last 3 years. Gotta respect 43 goals. O'Sully is really popular in the pools. I think he'd make great trade bate. I'm not convinced he's jumping to 70 points. I'd like to see him get to 60 first, and get a contract. Carter is the real deal, it's just how long does it take to grow to that 70 point plateau. JJ, Carle, Pitkanen & Enstrom. Well, if you like them, good chance you'll at least be able to get one of them back. JJ will slip under the radar. It sucks not having a goalie. That's a pretty painful hole. Carcillo, if he gets his points up, his PIMs will have to drop. It's a long time since anyone tolerated a 'player' getting crazy PIM's. Avery is far and away the only real example... since Tiger Williams???
