ultrawhiteness wrote: keep your head up gopher, your team is still doing lots of good things. they are expertly coached and are gradually upgrading the quality of their depth players in the lineup. you have a new franchise defenseman, a future captain who just made the team, and you should get some good assets in return for glass-groin-gabby.
until that guy puts up 100 points somewhere else, i'll always be skeptical. let someone else pay him that much money.
besides, if your team is going to suck a little, they've chosen a good time to do it, as bugg's last few articles are showing.
Yeah, I agree with you they have a lot of good young talent and it should be exciting to watch Burns and Koivu mature and reach their potential. The only problem is that the Wild will not finnish at the bottom of the league so it will be a long time before they get a high draft pick and they're just soooooo boring to watch sometimes. At least we have a lot of other hockey to watch here in Minnesota!

Why would he take it???
8 million now is about right...but $8 mil in future dollars (8 yrs from now) would be significantly less than the top tier talent.
The deal will be something like $37 million over 4 yrs if they get it done.

the salary cap won't keep going up forever might take a step back if Canadian dollar ever slips since over 30% of revenue comes form Canadain teams, possibly more.
Big question is where he is going to go alot of teams made salry cap deciosn not hockey decisions to start the season, it's not like they can fit 8 million a year either.
Just off the top of my head maybe 10 teams can even fit him into their plans next year at that price, probably less than that

Riser screwed up. If he really wanted to keep Gabby that badly surely he had to know that it would not fly to have Lemaire as coach. He's done a fair job other than that but keepin Lemaire guaranteed he'd loose Gabby. In the end tho Riser should get a decent package in return for Gabby so who knows in a very short time they could be a helluva lot better than they actually are now. I bet that groin will feel a lot better too once it gets the hell outa Minny!LOL
