I don't have the guide so I can't flip to see who might have been close...so shot in the dark I'll pick I'll take Zidlicky

I believe you were on the money with Gaborik's 83 points.

Way to steal my bonus points Angus! Like you need them...

You know, I'm doing my best to avoid doing real work at my job right now, and figuring this out was good clean fun… until you ruined it you ruiner…

Lol… it's okay tho, with all the good work you do around here, I can't stay mad at you.

I must admit tho, trying to find out who it was I noticed that a lot of Dobber's guesses were really close. It's kinda creepy when you think about it.

Anyway what is beyond a doubt is that Dobber's Guide + your own hockey IQ + the The HockeyNews Forecaster = Hockey Pool Success.

How I won a pool last year was to use Dobber's plus my own IQ (which is slightly more than my shoe size) to pick which players were going to do well, and then at the draft used the THN guide to figure out when the other guys were going to draft players as per "mainstream" projections.

Dobber's Guide = 10$
THN Guide = 10$
Pool entry fee= 20$
-------------------
Winning 260$ plus huge bragging rights = you know...

Plus-3 for both of you, Gaborik was the only Top 100 player that I nailed right on.

Prospal, Nash and Mueller were all off by one point...I'm especially proud of these three, because I correctly called Prospal's up-down-up-down-up season pattern, Nash's step forward (without exaggerating it, as many do), and Mueller...well rookies are just tough.

Malkin, Alfredsson, Kovalchuk, Staal, Sundin, Tkachuk, Modano, and Perry were all off by two points.

Ovechkin and nine others were off by three points.

The thing that impressed me most about Dobber's guide vs. the others was the depth, particularly among prospects and dark horses. Players that barely got mentioned in the others got a good treatment in Dobber's guide. This has been especially helpful for me during my rebuilding phase.

And because of the quality and depth of the Dobber guide, and the forums here on the website, my rebuilding plan is going much better and faster than I anticipated.

It's a great guide Dobber - your bragging is justified!

I love the guides for that point alone, Dobber looks into the future and what that player will probably do. He doesn't waste time on all the KNOWNS, the guys we already know about.. Great job on the predicting though this year Dobber even though we know that is not what you are totally striving for.

I love this prospects guide and think it is the best of the bunch. This is where you win your hockey pools. You get your hands on guys before other people hear too much about them. Love the job you are doing Dobber.

If I didn't have DobberHockey I would probably be in tip-top shape, HAHA.. Can't wait for the guide, soo pumped..

In my guide, I spend the time and effort on the players you don't know about. I don't waste your time explaining to you, using the biggest sections, how good Ovechkin and Crosby are. I try and help you in your league by expanding more on the unknowns.

This is why I buy the guide...

You don't win pools by picking in the first round...(that's where you need the information to build your team)...you win by knowing who to pick in the later rounds...

I agree. The years I have won my one-year leagues, it is the late round picks/early season deals that win it for me. My first (and many times second) round picks are largely underwhelming.

That is why when I am drafting with 5-10 people, I push for as big rosters as possible. More players being picked means you have to know more and luck is less important.
