Dobber you have 6 players listed on the #1 PP for FLA.
I think you added McCabe and did not change Ballard to the 2nd PP.
Great changes so far.

McCabe is surely one of the scapegoats in TO, but to say he's a poor defenceman is a mistake.
Yes, he's had a bad season, but is still a premier point producer, and plays an aggressive style that helps teams win.
Cut the Big guy some slack. Most teams would jump at the chance to add him, and at just over 4 mil for the next three years, cost conscience clubs would be thrilled to get him.

he's not a defensive master but you're right he's no slouch either, he's a prototypical offensive defenseman and he can QB a PP like few others, his bad rap is mostly unfair I think...you try playing most of your career on the isles and leafs and see how good your defensive stats look, its a hard path

I don't mind having extra on the PP units. If, at the end of the season you look at PP ice time, you see it all the time. Actual example: Chicago PP TOI/GWiliams 4:21 Havlat 4:00 Kane 3:56 Byfuglien 3:54 Toews 3:41 Lang 3:40 Last year's data. Should we consider Lang on the "second" PP because he played one less second per game on the power play than the fifth guy? There are no hard and fast rules in determining this. Only guidelines. The Florida PP allocation was done on purpose.

Interesting, Thanks for the response Dobber.
I think McCabe will have a huge impact in FLA. Getting out of Toronto and going to a casual hockey city like FLA where he can play and go home will be ideal for him.
McCabe likes to win like all other athletes but he has never come across as someone the "needs" to win.
If he gets back that motivation to shoot on the PP, his effect in FLA will be massive. No one ever denied his scoring prowess and his defense was never as bad as the 50 replays a night on TSN.
But to answer your question: Should we consider Lang on the "second" PP because he played one less second per game on the power play than the fifth guy?
YES. Absolutely yes. No way Lang gets the PP time if Toews, Havlat and Byfuglien are not injured so much. If it is just a guideline then the first PP (red dot) should be the 5 guys who go out in a best case scenario for every team. Injuries will always change the statistics, but every coach/team has 5 PP guys that start.
Nothing is ever written in stone either, but if you go by the TOI, there are probably a few teams that 7-8 players could be listed on the #1 PP.
