I find it difficult to compare these goalies to each other. I had them both on my fantasy team this year, and I watched them both struggle at times. Fleury (by and large) takes more shots than emery does, but I consider both of them to be at the same skill level.

The point I was making with hasek vs. gerber was that Emery's "backup" last season was much more playoff tested and reliable for a few games here or there than gerber is this season. Unless emery plans on playing every game in the playoffs, you need a decent second option. Yes Brodeur and Luongo will probably be able to play every game, but Emery? I doubt it.

I don't disagree with you in terms of there skill level, in fact Fleury quite possibly will end up being the better goalie when all is said and done. In terms of the back up situation, I think if Hasek was ready to go last year, he would've played, so if you're comparing who the real back up was, I'll take Gerber over Mike Morrison any day of the week... Also, Emery's played big stretches before, and besides Carolina last year, how many teams have won a cup rotating goaltenders???
