Yeah, so the Flyers looked good in the 1st period, played OK in the 2nd, fell back on some bad habits in the third, but still managed to get the win and force game 5...couple hours later I read this...
PHILADELPHIA -- Not only did the Philadelphia Flyers stay alive Thursday night, they got good news on the status of injured defensemen Kimmo Timonen and Braydon Coburn.
Philadelphia's top defense pair could be reunited as early as Sunday for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals in Pittsburgh.
Coburn seemed close to returning Thursday night for the Flyers' 4-2 home win, but needed more time to heal from facial injuries that caused his left eye to swell shut. The bigger surprise would be Timonen, who was expected to miss at least this series and likely the rest of the season.
Timonen went on the injured list on the eve of this series after tests revealed a blood clot on his left ankle, resulting from a blocked shot in the previous round against Montreal. He will skate on Friday, and if all goes well, will be back in the lineup when the Flyers try to extend their season again.
"If I feel [Friday] that I'm good to go for Sunday, then I'm good for Sunday," Timonen said after Thursday's win. "There is nothing to prevent me from playing. I may have numbness in my toes, but if I can deal with that then I can play.
"We took another ultrasound, and based on that the doctor said I have a green light to give it a try. The doctor feels that there is no chance the clot is going to get loose or break up or anything like that. It's a great sign. A week ago they were afraid it was going to get bigger and cut loose."
Coburn was struck in the face by a puck in the opening minutes of Game 2 last Sunday and has missed two games. He didn't break any bones, but severe swelling forced his left eye to close. He was able to practice Wednesday and hoped to play in Game 4.
Now the target date is Sunday.
"Is there a chance? I think there is, either or both," coach John Stevens said. "The first thing is you have to make sure of the health of the player here, and we're not going to put anybody at risk. If they're not able to go, we'll keep marching ahead like we are. But if we're able to get one or both back, it would be a huge lift for our team."
This could easily be posted on the injury updates section about Timonen, but I thought I'd see what everyone else thinks. Say he does come back, what kind of impact does Timonen and/or Coburn returning have on the series? I think things could get crazy, but is it too late? We'll see...

Interesting about Timonen. I'm not sure it's still going to matter, though the Flyers did surprise and win 1 game. Anything is possible, just not likely.

This will only have slight impact. Biron still needs to stand on his head. Id love for us to take Game 5 to put pressure on Pens, but overall, I still see a DET-PIT final with a Detroit sweep.

Philly backs were against the walls, they sure as hell didn't want to lose game 4 at home, Pittsburgh will come out strong and should win game 5. Afternoon games are a little weird though, things tend to happen that really shouldn't happen. Maybe Pittsburgh will win 8-0 or vice-versa..??
I would love this series to go 7, that would be sweet..

Shao... Did you also know that the year Detroit lost was 1942. The year Penguins lost was 1975. 33 years apart.
What year are we in now? Thats right. 33 years from 1975.

That 33 years thing was all over the press when the Sharks took the Stars to a game 6. In the history of professional sports, only 3 teams have overcome 3-0 deficits. Only team that didnt win the championship was the Isles, who lost to Philly. Toronto Maple Leafs NY Islanders Boston Red Sox 33 years could mean Dallas or Philadelphia...or...both?

Before we can talk about Philly coming back and going to the Cup, I'd like to see some decent officiating.
Both Detroit and Pittsburgh got shafted with some fishy calls to extend the series to game 5's...I was curious after Detroit, but after last night I'm downright suspicious.

Almost every one of us on this thread have already had really intense discussions about the chances of the Flyers winning this series. At this point all the talk is basically just banter. Throw out some random facts and just pass the time until the next NHL game.
