Aye, which is the same reason other prospects like Oskars Bartulis and a couple of others who were in last year's aren't in the new one. We've already heard about them(and they aren't the top flight dudes like Oshie/Berglund/etc.)

I'd only given martizez a passing glance before this. I'll keep a closer eye now.

Curious why Corey Crawford was left out of Chicago's prospect report? He onyl played a couple games but looked like hes is the successor to the Bulin Wall in the near future...

Same reasons as above - Chicago has more fantasy worthy prospects than any other team in the NHL, so we actually did 11 of them. Why no Crawford? Bugg decided to do Josh Unice, I guess feeling that Crawford was already well known. Not wanting to do a 12th prospect profile, I let it slide although out of all of them, that one is the one I second-guess myself on the most.
Peter Harrold is the second-most
Sorry Packmart.
For what it's worth, I think he'll be the backup next year and could start by the season after that.

So did Nolan Schaefer with what he did with the Sharks a few years back.
How'd he turn out

In all honesty Crawford will most likely be a top 3 backup goalie who can do spot #1 duty on occasion. Like Johan Hedberg, or Holmqvist, or whatnot. He'll probably get 2 starter years in before they realize they could do much better, so he'll be a milk-able fantasy asset.

I disagree. I'm going after him this summer.
Crawford was drafted high, which gives him automatic status. Now he's at the perfect age to do what he is doing. Schaefer was the victim of hte numbers game. There's no Kipper, Nabby and Tosky in Chicago.

True enough.

Like I said, Chi-town will get a few seasons out of him. Like Ottawa and Pittsburgh did with Lalime before realizing they can do better. Like what Anaheim, Ottawa and Carolina are getting out of Gerber, and what Tampa was once getting from John Grahame and Holmqvist. Short term there really doesn't seem to be anything negative with him. He'll have high trade value once he starts getting a dozen or so starts, and he's playing for a rising star team. Win-Win so long as you don't stupidly commit really long term. I'm picking him up and if I can swap him for someone more established(I already have Howard, Harding, and Ellis so a bedrock goalie wouldn't be bad, considering) I'm going to do it.

I go with my gut with goalies. I didn't go with my gut with Chris Mason, Manny Legace, Marc Denis, Felix Potvin (back in the day), etc. and each time I got burned and lost guys like Garon and Kolzig due to going on hearsay and other people's predictions. I could be wrong but I very much doubt it.

I always find this stuff fascinating, and this is no exception. Great reading.

If I had to nitpick, as a Habs fan, I would have to say that Sergei Kostitsyn is no longer a prospect. With 52 reg season games and 12 playoff, he's made the team. Like Halak, he's there.
As the Habs are loaded with prospects beyond the ones listed, I would have preferred an assessment of Emelin or Valentenko, Fischer or Chipchura. Or one of the others.
And Perezhogin, is he considered a propect? They still own his rights and he seems to have done quite well in Russia.

I agree he is there to stay, but I kind of define a prospect as: would I bet my house that he makes the team? The answer is no. A house is too expensive to bet on that unless it was 100%

Perezhogin played nearly two full NHL seasons, he's graduated.

A good example of how playing a bunch of games doesn't guarantee you a spot with the big club next year would be Derek Roy. Played 49 games with Buffalo in 2003-04, put up nearly 0.5PPG numbers (comparable to what Sergei did this year), then spent the first month of the following (post-lockout) season in Rochester because he came to camp with the attitude that he already had a spot locked up.

I agree that S. Kostitsyn is probably as close to a lock for next year's Habs roster as is possible, but I'm just trying to give an example of how anything can happen.
