Dobber - Bergeron to take Burns' place in Minny? I highly doubt it. Burns is their guy, and his performance at the Worlds only cemented that. I don't think he is in any jeopardy of reduced ice time.

perhaps not in so many words, but you did mention that he will get a chance to be 'the man' in minny, and that is what I was referring to. They didn't pick up some washout to upset their chemistry and blow out burns' confidence.

I was just confused about how you said if they waited 3 weeks they would have had him for free but I think he has 1 more year left on his contract, but I'm not sure if I read that correctly and maybe misunderstood.

Bergeron is more a shooter for the second PP. He is by no means a passer, which is what they need for Burns on the back end. Burns should get 55 next year, with a sniff at 60. I may be a tad biased though.

Bergeron will be on the top PP this year to start, but quickly fade, and Burns will still have a breakout year of 52 points.
I clarified in the ramblings.
Bergeron will be a UFA this summer, as per THN's Draft issue - Anaheim section.

It won't be second PP because he is useless at even strength, so just getting second PP minutes....means he may as well be in the press box. He'll get 14 minutes a game, with six of them on the power play. He has no other use. Don't worry Burns lovers, your precious little Brent will still get his pointsy wointsy! |
