Hey Angus,

Thanks for doing this. I'd love your input on my last keeper. We keep 15, and my top 14 are:

F: Malkin, Staal, Kopitar, Backstrom, Rudulov, Brown, O'Sullivan, Marleau
D: Gonchar, Whitney, Letang, E. Johnson
G: Nabokov, Price

For my final keeper, the options are Arnott, Hartnell and Malone. If Malone stayed with PIT he'd be my choice, but now I'm leaning towards Arnott, even though I don't expect him to duplicate last year. Who would you choose from these 3?

Categories: G, A, PIM, +/-, PPG, PPA, SHG, SHA, GWG, SO and Faceoff Wins

With these categories, Arnott has some good value in shots and faceoff wins, which is the main reason I lean towards him. Your thoughts? Thanks a lot.

Since it appears C and W are the same in value, I'd go with Arnott as well.

Thanks ahead of time Angus!

Ok so being a newbie to the keeper league thing I got caught up in the Stamkos hype and traded away my 2nd pick in our inaugural draft (24th overall) for him. Should I try and trade the 1st overall pick for someone like Turris if I could get it, or even more, or just stick to my guns since I basically gave up on Eric Staal for Stamkos? Any advice is appreciated.

I'm still kind of kicking myself here.

That isn't too bad of a move... Staal had a huge year but I think Stamkos is a better long term player. I wouldn't have done it because you always go with the proven talent.. but it isn't bad.

I would see if you can get Turris straight up.. but they are pretty even. I like Turris a bit more because of his situation.

Wow! I'm sure this is quite the task your undertaking so I must offer my thanks ahead of time.

My situation is this...

Our deadline has been pushed back till Friday to make this decision...

Salary Keeper League ... 23 roster spots ... no positional requirements .. roto

We have the choice of cutting players immediately. Keeping them at there existing salary for one more year, or keeping them for 3 more years with a $5 raise. After that, all one year contracts become free agents and you have the option of re-signing all 3 year contracts to another 1 or 3 year contract.

Our cap has been set at $370.

My roster as of now stands at...

Malkin $30
Heatley $29
Hossa $25
Zetterberg $24
Gaborik $21
Frolov $20
Hartnell $17
Radulov $13
Backstrom $6
Toews $6
Mueller $6
Voracek $1
Berglund $1
Frolik $1

Lidstrom $20
Whitney $17
Letang $3
J.Johnson $3

Price $6
Miller $24
Backstrom $18
Harding $5

My first thought was to keep and raise:

Malkin, Heatley, Zetterberg, Hossa, Gaborik, Frolov,
Radulov, BackstromWAS, Mueller, Toews, Voracek, Berglund,
Whitney, Letang, Johnson, Price, Miller, BackstromMINN, Harding,
Frolik

as well as keep Lidstrom for one more year at $20.

That scenario left me $3 over with 2 roster positions to fill at the Auction.

My question for you fellow is what would you do in this case?

Most answers I have got center around Frolov or Gaborik, but I really like those guys.

Sorry for the long question, and thanks for taking the time.

Thanks...
STILLNESS

I might cut ship with Backstrom... I don't see him starting in two years in Minni, let alone three. I'd keep Gaborik, it is only a matter of time before we see a huge season. Others around here disagree with me, but that is my stance.

I'd probably cut Frolov as well... depending on who else is available. He is a solid young winger but won't be top line in LA, and needs a better center than Armstrong to play with.

12man keeper league. Team and league info in siggy.

Should I move Kessel or will he break out? If I do move him, what should I get in return? I am trying to get Kessel/Enstrom or Redden for Green.

What should I aim to fix during the offseason on my team? I know 3rd LWer is weak as hell and 2nd starter goalie is weak.

Thanks, I know I asked too many questions lol.

No problem.

C-E.Staal, Backstrom, Mueller, Arnott
LW-Nash, Morrow, Samsonov, Kozlov
RW-Heatley, Hemsky, Kessel
D-Rafalski, Bieksa, Burns, Enstrom,Redden, Carle
G-Lundqvist, Lehtonen,Emery

There is your team.

Quick breakdown:

Deep at center, great work there.
Awesome LW's, Sammy is a solid choice in CAR. I'd get rid of Kozlov though.
RW, two studs, I do not like Kessel at all and would definitely try and package him up.
D, again, some good stuff. Rafalski and Burns are studs. Bieksa is a ROTO horse when he bounces back. I don't like Redden either, see if his name value can get you something.

Carle will have a big bounce back season with new coaches there.. and your goaltending is solid. No point moving Emery, I assume he has no value so why not see where he goes.

Selanne... keep or deal?

in a dynasty league with a cap, how much do you think he will get if he does come back

Not sure to be honest... I haven't heard much on the issue and hate speculation around retirements... it is a risky move to deal him now, but has a big reward (getting something for potentially retiring). Also, by holding on to him you keep a great RW.

Personally, I'd try and deal him and hope he retires afterward.

Hey Angus,

I'm about to go through with a trade where I send my pick (#2) to take Filatov and Tobias Enstrom to get my hands on Kyle Turris. Even if the trade doesn't go through, I figure I need defense, so I've made a list of young dmen that aren't taken yet in my league. After that #2 overall pick I have picks #14, #38, #50 and possible one or two at #60+. Among the dmen I have listed are Del Zotto, Sekera, Vishnevskiy, Lepisto, McBain, Yandle, Gilbert, Girardi, Salcido and Campoli. I can imagine Del Zotto possibly being picked before #14 but the rest should be there. Of those, I'm targeting Sekera and Yandle.

So here's the dilemma I face. I also have some forwards prioritized and two that could fall to me at #14 is Luca Caputi and Andreas Nodl. Should I pick either of those two ahead of Sekera or Yandle with that #14 pick? Right now I'm ranking them Caputi, Sekera, Yandle, Nodl. Does that sound about right?

Before I saw who you were targeting, I was ready to sell you on Sekera/Yandle. I'd probably take Sekera first, with Caputi second, and then Yandle. Caputi is in a great situation but Sekera should QB that PP as early as next year.

hey angus. thanks for doing this. i have a quick keeper trade question. would you do this deal: i give up Brad Richards + a 2nd round waiver pick (guys like Lupul, Afinogenov, Liles, PMB would be available at that pick) for Zach Parise. its a standard yahoo league where position matters.

no, I wouldn't. Parise is one of my favorite players (as is PMB ), but I think Richards will produce similar to him next year (70-80 points), and PMB is a stud.

Keep Richards, draft PMB, and you are set!
