top 100 goalies - Lehtonen

Okay, what's up here. Did I miss something? Why did Lehtonen shoot up the rankings? I though Pavelec's assention would be a bad thing for Lehtonen.

What gives? Can someone let me know why Lehtonen's value has gone up?

i'm interested to know aswell. I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot poll. Maybe Dobber can shed some light on this.

I too am shaking my head at this...Is Zach Bogosian going to make that much of a difference...?

I think it might be the fact that he's a RFA and that he might sign with another team at least that's what I think. But I'm sure Dobbs will justify it.

I tweaked my formula this month, just to see the results. Overall, I'm pretty happy with how things shook out. Actually, I'm very happy...so I'm going to stick with this new formula.
Lehtonen is a young starting goaltender with a lot of upside who should get 32 wins. He is injury prone, I grant you that, but if healthy I think the Thrashers would give him the opportunity to start 65 games.

So with that in mind, I look at your comments here (criticism, I mean ) and I took another look at the rankings. I have to say again that I'm very satisfied.

Lehtonen is 14th and I took a look at all the goalies after him and the only one I would trade Lehtonen straight up for is Biron - who is 15th.

So his spot, in my opinion (which is what you come here to read haha), is bang on.

Let's look at some goalies below Lehtonen that you may or may not think are better:

Backstrom - also struggled with injuries, but more importantly has Harding knocking on the door. Harding could and probably will steal starts.

Leclaire - a slightly overrated goaltender who is a clear-cut Band-Aid boy. His numbers will be stellar, however, under Hitchcock's system...but he is guaranteed to get hurt - moreso than Lehtonen.

Huet - could move up if he signs with WAS, but as a UFA his fantasy future is up in the air.

Vokoun - horrible team, worse than Atlanta by far

Toskala - horrible team

Smith - horrible team

Harding - backup

Gerber - does one tumultuous year really mean he has a No.1 job solidified? C'mon.

Bernier - depending on your keeper league situation...he could conceivably be ranked ahead of Lehtonen. But without being in the show yet, it's tough to rank him any higher.

Pavelec - he is 30th, so I am acknowledging how close he is. But he is also unproven.

Ellis - led the NHL in SP. But so did Mason last year. You know where I'm going with this.



I'm not sure which goalie you think should be ahead of Lehtonen here...but I hope everyone in my keeper league shares your opinion, so I can trade with them and hammer them in the standings. The more I go over this... the more flabbergasted I am that there is even a problem here!

So I guess...don't look at him as shooting up, look at it as being adjusted to where it should have been. He did not improve, he just should not have been so low before.

Still don't see how he's ahead of Toskala. Both bad teams but Tosk was healthier last year...and better. Plus I'd rather have a tender play behind Toronto's D than Atlanta's. Now that's saying something.

Dobber I would take almost all those goalies over Lehtonen in a multi category league and even a wins only league. Atl will be in rough shape for the next few years and his wins, Sv% and GAA will be horrible. I hope I get into the expert league so we can make a goalie trade that we are both happy with

The expert league is one-year. The rankings are multi-year. My opinion would change if the list was based on one year. For example, I would prefer Osgood, Huet and Ellis over Lehtonen for a one year.

This list is my opinion for keeper leagues and I stand by it . I win them for a reason, and that reason is being right more often than I'm wrong. For going against the strong opinions of fellow GMs and beating them soundly.

I respect your rankings and use them as a guide but Lehtonen is just one of those guys that I will not bother with. We won't know who is right or wrong for a while but i'll stay away from Lehtonen and continue to do win my pools aswell.
