I just recently listened to the free agrent show and it will be the last time I do. Other then dobber throwing his solid educated guesses on players point production for the next season, the hosts are terrible. They only state the obvious and know barely nothing about hockey or the NHL. What topped it off was when they spoke about Sean Avery. And calling him a younger type Morrow. First of all they are totally different. Secondly, they are practically the same age. Maybe in the future get some homework done or get some new hosts.

Cut them some slack. I think they've been great. Our practice run is over and starting next episode we will be bringing in real guests. TSN.ca's Scott Cullen, plus Spector himself Lyle Richardson from Spectorshockey.com, and our own Jeff Angus. The hosts are: Justin Goldman, who has written our weekly "School of Block" articles for over a year now, focusing on fantasy hockey goaltenders. So he knows his stuff, but he is more focused on the goalies. Evan Triantano has radio experience and hockey knowledge, and is really the key host due to his radio know-how. Brendan Thomas is a former play-by-play man from Detroit. I just ask that you give it another chance. One more. And I thank you for the feedback - most people haven't spoken up, but I would rather they did. REALLY appreciated. Thanks.

Perhaps it means cutting down on the small talk. Although, since I was the only guest last episode it was kind of needed But you know what I mean...

I have listened to all the shows and feel they have done a decent job. There are definitely some areas that need polishing but I think given some time that they can really develop a good show.
I think the biggest issue is that they are broadcasting to very knowledgeable fans, as brosal04 clearly pointed out, so that mistakes will be magnified and vilified. Furthermore most Torontonians are used to so many hockey broadcasters with years of experience or guys like Bob McCown (who might be the best of the best), that we never get to hear younger guys starting out.
I think Justin should start the show with a goalie review/story every week. Something that he is an expert in and that might help him get into the flow of the show. It will give him an outlet to really show his stuff and give listeners and idea of where he is coming from. He sometimes seems scripted and/or nervous, maybe the familiarity would help him jump start the show. Tell the Dobber fans something they don't know off the top and they will continue to listen.
Just my opinion.

Got it, small talk eh, couple of UFA signings they could of talked about like Ollie Kolzig in Tampa Bay since u said one of the guys is a goalie expert. Im sure TB guaranteed Godzilla some playing time. Another huge question mark is Mark Streit on the Island or Pitkanen in Carolina. No need for small talk.

Dobber Nation is not about the hosts. It's about the guests and the fantasy hockey information that is being provided to you...the listener...for FREE!! Brosal, you just proved to me (and everyone reading this) the value of this BRAND NEW radio show. It looks like Dobber's awesome player point projections had your attention and you listened pretty closely. Honestly, who cares what the hosts are saying?? The guests are the meat of this show...they are the real hockey analysts...and the listener's questions are a big part of this show as well! The Hockey Guild is taking on this opportunity of hosting this show strictly as volunteers. We are doing this because we want to provide Dobber's site and his hardcore readers with another aspect of his awesome website. In fact, if I weren't such a passionate fantasy hockey player and hockey fan, I would never found his site in the first place and offered my unique goaltending analysis to his website. I was honored when he chose to publish my articles a year ago and I was honored when he chose The Hockey Guild to produce his radio show. Dobber knows I'm not a hockey genius by any means...I may not even have a good radio voice... But I think Dobber recognizes the passion and great work ethic I (and Evan and Brenden) have to make this happen as volunteers. If we don't always have the best insight on a certain player, or I make a bad correlation between players, all we ask is that the listener understands this is not TSN Canada or ESPN. We are doing everything we can to provide you with a professional, quality, in-depth show. Brenden recently re-located to Colorado from Detroit. He did play-by-play for two seasons and with his wealth of knowledge and great radio voice, he has been hired strictly to broadcast our radio programs. Even though this show is totally volunteer-based, we are willing to bring people on board to improve the show. We are dedicated to Dobber Nation and with this conviction we know it will only get better and better. I am pretty sure if you were around for the first few episodes, you would know that I (and Evan) have made it very clear that we are by no means hockey geniuses. Brenden's Sean Avery statement is just an opinion more than anything. Personally I think there are no two alike players in the NHL at all...but obviously there are some traits in Avery's game that led Brenden to believe there are similarities. It's just an opinion...big deal. Opinions are the root of engaging discussion and they will be a big part of our show. I appreciate all feedback and ideas for this show and never take any of it personally. Hell, I'm from Texas. The fact I can even skate and stop pucks blows my mind. The fact I can analyze goaltending proficiently is also pretty shocking. More than anything, this is a really fun experience because of the freedom we have producing a show that is not tied down by time restrictions that we face in our local show here in Colorado. Because of this, the show is going to become a real cool way for Dobber's hardcore listeners to interact with some of the top hockey analysts in North America. Scott Cullen?? Spector?? C'mon it doesn't get much cooler than that! This summer is a major transition for all of hockey, so yeah, cut us some slack as we continue building up for next season. Thanks for the support!!!

Sorry if I hurt your feeling guys. I know you guys mean well. Just not the biggest avery fan. I think he should be banned from the NHL. Hes been known to say alot of racist and ethnic slurs to players. The whole Jason Blake incident making fun of him cuz he got cancer. And for him to be compared to a great hockey player like Brendan Morrow who will be a future Olympian on Team Canada 2010. Bothers me alot.

You didn't hurt my feelings at all. But now you have a better background of the show and the hosts. It's something everyone should know...it's no big deal!
I like the idea of me starting with some goalie analysis, but honestly like I said before, the show is about the guests...so my goal is to just broach the major stuff in the first few minutes and get right into introducing the first guest.
