Schremp has become far less of a showboater. He's still quite confident in his game by listening to interviews but he's grown up quite a bit. He's worked very hard on his game, even learning to play wing instead of sticking at center to give himself a better shot at playing in the NHL. He was top 10 in scoring in the AHL last year - not a guarantee for sure, but a sign that he's still got the skill that he was lauded for. As for his defensive play, he's no Pahlsson, but he has improved steadily in that area.
You are right that Schremp won't be a top line guy, but that's simply a numbers game, he's not going to steal time away from the guys currently on the team.
It'll be interesting to see what happens. Schremp is not as one dimensional as you seem to imply he is - perhaps at one time that was the case, but not any more. I'd still be surprised to see him be anything more then the first AHL callup this year though, but when he does I have a hunch he'll do ok if given some soft, protected minutes by the team,

Like others have said...the response has been awesome. I really appreciate the assistance given by Dobber readers from different regions in North America. Keep it up all, and if I can ever return the favor...I'll do my best!

ive seen schremp at least 5 or 6 times in the OHL. He just dominated it was sick. The problem with him he his skating and defensive play. Hes slow as fuck. Hes got another 2 seasons after that u can declare him a bust. I think 2009-10 will be his coming out party with a 50 point season.

I watch Scremper in the A quite enough... I was a big expector of him and expeceted him to make the oilers 2 years ago as a PP specialist only getting PP time... Never turned out..
I like the Jason Allison idea... only thing Schremp lacks to Allison is alotta size... his skating is sub par and and he lackes the want to play a defencive game... Like Corey Locke I dunno if he's ever touched ice inside his own blueline in game situation... (this is also the reason Locke never played with Montreal)...
2000-2006 OHL top 5 scores yet to make the NHL easily: Micheal Hendrich Shaun Fisher Randy Fitzgerald Nathan Robinson Mike Renzi Kris Newbury Corey Pecker Corey Locke X 2 Joey Tenute Martin St. Pierre Eric Himelfarb Dan Sisca Dylan Hunter X 2 Robbie Schremp X 2 David Bolland Evan McGrath
so technically thats about 3 per year wont make the NHL... altho Locke, Newbury, St. Pierre, Hunter, Schremp, Bolland and McGrath are still in the hunt this year and next year...
That makes yea wonder about 2006-2008 Patrick Kane (NHL) John Tavares X2 Sergei Kostitsyn (NHL) Tyler Donati Sam Gagner (NHL) Justin Azevedo Brett MacLean Luca Caputi Steven Stamkos (Gonna be in the NHL this year)...
just things to mull over...

Schremp's coach - Hunter - said recently:
"Now he's learned how to play good defensive hockey, good two-way hockey. He takes the body. Now he does the intangibles that make him a better player."
That's good enough for me.
