LeMatt, I think Ruutu has too much competition in Carolina to make a huge fantasy impact next year. He may start in the top 6, but Carolina has a penchant for moving players around. One day it will be Eaves, the next Cullen, the next Ruutu. He needs to play somewhere like Vancouver where he'll have a chance to gel on a set line.

Well...

Remember the goal he scored against Canada in the "World Cup of Hockey" way back in '04? Thats my Tuomo.

For no reason at all I think if he gets moved out of Carolina (Ottawa anyone?) it will be a bigger upside fantasy wise but being a coveted LW increases his value. If you're relying on solid 2nd line production then I would expect disapointment or solidly meeting your expectations with a bigish upside for the future.

Let the goal (if you saw it) guide you.

The aforementioned goal I believe:

It was a great mistake my being born a man. I'd have been far more successful as a seagull or a fish.

Its not that I think that Ruutu will do much this year as I have exhausted my faith in previous, frustrating years... BUT, I dont like your reasoning behind not liking Ruutu. Cullin is trash. There is no way CAR brass want to see Cullen getting more ice time than Ruutu. Same goes for Eaves in a lesser capacity. Ruutu has potential for 60+ points and an upside of 80+ points. You cant say that for Cullen. Eaves is good, but he does not have the potential that Ruutu does. CAR will give Ruutu the best environment they can to help him realise his vast potential.

In his time in CAR last season, he spent the majority of his time with Cole and Staal. He spent twice as much time on the 1st line than he spent on the 2nd. I see a healthy Williams filling in for Cole's position and Ruutu playing the opposite wing.

The outlook is certainly not bleak for Ruutu. However, I will not be spending any energy hoping for him to turn his potential into fpts. I have done that for the past 4 years and traded him (gratefully) at the trade deadline last year.

If he breaks out now for 60+ points, I'll punch myself in the nuts to punish myself!

agaither2179 has offered to punch himself in the .... providing Tuomo Ruutu gets 60+ points! We all need to cheer for Tuomo Ruutu to have a great year! Here's a chance for some fun U-Tube stuff...

We got a guy in the pool I play in who keeps track of all this type of stuff & bets too. Some pretty wacky bets over the years, fueled by Mr. Molson & Mr. Labatt.

Have a great day!
