Brand new 16 team keeper league H2H. Not the greatest pick in the league but Id like some input...Im thinking top offensive talent with the 12th and a stud tendy with my 2nd rder...HMMM...

Stats are as follows:
Scoring for Categories
+/- - Plus Minus 1 point
A - Assists 1 point
G - Goals 1 point
GAA - Goals Against Average 0.5 points
GWG - Game Winning Goals 0.5 points
PIM - Penalty Minutes 0.5 points
PPPTS - Power Play Points 1 point
S - Saves 0.5 points
SHPTS - Short Handed Points 0.5 points
SO - Shut Outs 0.5 points
SOG - Shots on Goal 0.5 points
SPct - Save Pct 1 point
W - Wins 1 point

So who will be left by then? and who would you take? wouldn't mind if you could also help me with my 2nd rder (being 21st overall)

THANKS GUYS!

EDIT: OH YA; 25 player roster; keep all; 12 active per night. (3/4 C, 4/6 W, 2/3 D, 1 G)

You gotta go goalie first. Don't take a chance. It's virtually impossible to win a pool without a Tier 1 goalie.

And with your 2nd pick, you'll swipe a nice skater (ie. Phaneuf, Staal, Getzlaf)

Its hard to say as if you see a big run of goalies I would grab one... if you don't I would grab a top F like Iggy, Hossa or Kovy that should still be there and then grab a goalie with your 21st pick

Turco, Giggy maybe even broduer should be still left for you at 21

in any way you go make sure you grab a goalie with one of your first 2 picks if not you will be kicking your self after.

1st pick (I would grab a top winger over C)

1)Iggy
2)Hossa
3)Kovy

2nd pick

Top goalie thats left

Turco, Giggy, Broduer (he fell in one of my keeper leagues due to his age) Price, Miller etc

thanks guys and feel free to keep the input coming...ive been thinking of maybe taking Kovalchuk/Zetterberg/Datsyuk with my 1st pick, Getzlaf with my 2nd and then a leclaire/ward/turco with my 3rd and finally a solid Dman with my 4th... personally, I think Iggy will go top 6 BUT i see Kovalchuk sliding to 12th cuz of the situation of his team...would it be safe to take him? afterall he'll be minus a billion and what about the russian factor? (ie. KHL).

of course, this is just bonus questions you all are free to answer...but Im more worried about the initial question of this post WHO TO TAKE 12TH AND 21ST?

since +/- counts as 1 (vs other cats being .5) I would lean towards iggy zetterberg datsyuk hossa at 12 in that order. I'm not a big fan of kovy, especially on that team that he will be with for at least 1.5 years so why throw your 1st pick on him? 1 maybe 2 of those should be available there.

Looks like categories are 8:5, goalie stats 39% so I would use my 2nd pick on one, if a top tier is there, I also like phaneuf here. fleury, nabby, price, brodeur, turco in that order.

In my 3yr Keeper League, I've finished 1st-2nd- and 2nd.
All 3 years my Goalies have not been tier 1 Goalies.
I've always felt like there was always a Goalie out there availible that would get you close enough to stay in it. Thomas-Backstrum-DiPietro-Vokoun have helped me stay strong throughout the years.
I like players 1st, then Goalies. Thats MY strategy anyway..
Theres always a GOOD 70-80pt goalie around(Garon-Huet-Gerber etc)
I find more longevity with players than a Goalie..
