I go Burns because I like the way his development took another nice step last year. He has steadily improved in all facets of his game and he may be ready to threaten 20 goals as early as this season. Half his goals were PP goals last year and his shots have increased every season as he gets more comfortable in both ends as the main man on the Minny Blue Line.

You can make a solid argument for JayBo but I think he is still mostly a tease. At 25 years old, he should be ready to BLOW UP and be the DOMINANT Offensive DMan that his talent screams. He seems to have the PERFECT blend of tools. Big, Smooth Skater, Offensive Skills, everything you look for in the prototypical DMAN to run your D. There are some troubling signs though. Goals have gone up THREE Straight Years but Assists have Gone Down THREE straight years as well. Only 9 of his career 38 goals came on the PP so he might not have good PP skills and that is ESSENTIAL to him hitting his ceiling. Maybe he just needs a new home but I would not be secure with a 25 year old Dman coming off a 37 point season that feels he is entitled to a gazillion dollar contract. I know it is not his fault but you know how many times he has played in the playoffs? ZERO. Franchise Level Dman? Prove it.
He was -5 last year after showing big progress the year before on his defensive game also. I cant figure the guy.

When do you need to submit your keepers? I have a strong feeling Bouwmeester will NOT work in Florida this year. A trade could do wonders for both his +/- and points. Skills-wise, Bouwmeester is better than both of these guys. If he ends up in a place like Philly as example, Bouwmeester will have a real nice +/- and will anchor the 1st PP with Timonen or Richards. In that event of a JBO move, he could be your CLEAR CUT choice.

If you need to get in your keepers ASAP, I would say Burns -- his points will be on par with the others and his +/- will be better than his brethren in Flordia and Nashville.

Bouwmeester - good chance best goals of the three. Worst plus minus. Hope for 50 pts.

Burns - hope for a repeat in points. 15 goals was pretty impressive last year. Minny will probably have the best plus of the three teams. Modest plus totals.

Weber - looking for growth. Should bag 10 goals. Would have to be happy with 40 points, but could hope for more. Definitely a player defining himself this season. Nashville will probably end up with a small team minus this season. Modest minus.

Any chance you could pick three guys with closer overall arrangements? I'd take the guy that I liked best long term and that I perceive to have the most value. The difference in points this year isn't very significant. Therefore... damn I like all three. I think all three are strong candidates to make the next "Team Canada". I don't pick Weber. He's least proven. I think I'd take the chance on Bouwmeester and what the future should bring.

I'll go against the grain and say Jay Bouwmeester. He's obviously going to be shipped out of FLA this season and if he lands on the right team he could explode.

FLA has been a terrible team and JBO has put up some pretty good numbers in despite of that and JBO wasnt the only player to regress last year... most of the team did including Jokinen who went from +19 to -18. JBO's fall from 23+ to -5 doesnt look so bad now does it??

Hes still super young (25) and once he gets traded I think all JBO owners are going to rejoice.

Im surprised some people made comments about his age actually... D men take a lot longer to come into their own. Look at Kaberle it took him 7 nhl season to finally break out and put up some phenomenal numbers. Once the trade happens JBO will be golden.

Go with JBO you will be happy you did.

JayBo hasn't developed as an offensive dman. He skates like the wind but has emerged as more of a physical defensive guy.

Burns is a dynamic offensive player with a ton of flash. I'd take him out of the three.

I think it's actually quite close between Weber and Burns, everyone forgets about the injuries Weber had last year.

Personally I don't think you'll go wrong with either one, I'd go with Weber just because I don't like Lemaire and with Zidlicky coming in I could see Burns taking a hit in production. I don't see Weber's injuries being a major thing and with Zidlicky gone now he should be the man in Nashville, and even with the drop in offense there he'll benefit.

Ill stick with Burns on this one, although the evnetual trading of jayBo will increase his value no matter where he goes unless God forbid he goes to Toronto.
