Does Karma Matter To You?

I see Karma as like rep. Those with karma are valued as probably earning those points through positive and helpful posts.

It's frustrating though to see your points dwindled and not know who did it. Even though you've gone and tried to be helpful in your posting.

Some user could just have you on your radar and mark you a negative every 6 hours just out of sheer hatred.

Is there any way around this? I mean, ultimately it doesn't matter, but I like to think that other people try to reward to build up the positive people that help rather than going around negativing people, but I've been losing points these last few days and I haven't really made one negative post other than just sharing thoughts about a hockey player.

I don't know...I just wanted to vent. I guess there's no perfect system right? I actually try every day to go around and use my positive karma when I read to give somebody who is helpful.

It does suck not knowing who negs you and why. I never neg for opinions but will neg if somebody goes out of their way to be a jack ass.

For me, I strive to help and contribute to this site and earn rep and value to my posts just like shoeless, JHM, angus, etc.. (I'm forgetting a few I'm sure)

karma isnt really a big deal to me... i like looking at how many posts someone has.. nobody can take those away (like they can karma)... whoever helps me out or gives decent advice, i remember their avatar and pay a little more attention to what they have to say in posts

Karma is really important to me. There's no way I want to risk being a cockroach next go round ...

The karma chomper came visiting huh Shao? Not much you can do buddy - just be who you are and want to be. I get whacked with a dose of it about once a month or so - comes in a block of about -5 - then nothing for awhile, just the normal ups and downs for the rest of the time. It happens to others as well. It's the system we have, for better or worse - kinda have to find the shrug factor to help it make sense, I think.

I personnally would perfer to see a system with only positive karma - get to keep what you earned. It doesn't grow if you aren't helpful, respectful, etc. Good enough without hard feelings growing.

Very good idea Shoeless. Nobody should get docked over a difference of opinion, but should be built up over a good one. Now im getting the hell out of this conversation because.....well, ya know.

P.S.- 6000+ posts Shoeless? Are you kidding me? That's insane! Damn, talk about always putting in your .02 cents. Must be nice to be in semi-retirement.

Haha not going to lie, i like seeing my karma go up, but when i get advice from someone else, I tend to give more respect to those with the higher post count.

Well I am working on getting laid more regularly and I would sure like to draft a second goalie in the Dobber's Pirate League - but other than that I am content to just cruise.

I can giggle for a few hours over NYR9394 whacking my karma - that was funny. It didn't stay down though so he has to do it again.
