The Boston Bruins traded defenseman Brad Stuart, forward Wayne Primeau and a conditional draft pick to the Flames on Saturday for defenseman Andrew Ference and forward Chuck Kobasew. Calgary: Receives a solid No. 2 or 3 defenseman who will partner up with Phaneuf on the power play. This is a job that Roman Hamrlik has stumbled at, and Mark Giordano lacks the skill or experience for. The Flames also take the most talented 'available' defenseman off the market. Primeau brings a solid, big, No.4 pivot into the lineup. Fantasy Players impacted: This hurts Roman Hamrlik, although he was not doing a lot offensively, anyway. Stuart will have more ice time than Ference did, which means less for Mark Giordano. Kobasew's value increases as he joins a team who will nurture his offense a little better. He is another potential Marc Savard linemate for next year. |

Boston: Brings in Brandon Bochenski Part II (or maybe this is Stanislav Chistov Part III). If the Bochenski experiment fails (as the Chistov one did), they can now take a third shot at saying they landed a sleeper with Kobasew.
