Boston Bruins Sign Matt Beleskey

Fantasy Impact: The Bruins have signed Matt Beleskey to a five-year deal worth $19 million.
The Bruins get: A crash-and-bang goal scorer coming off a career high of 22 goals. Beleskey is also quite fragile, using playing in the 65- to 70-game range. But with all the buzz over what his contract would look like, and our experience with prior NHL free agent contracts (such as David Clarkson‘s), this deal is incredibly reasonable. Beleskey could have got more from another team, make no mistake.
When you have several wingers with similar offensive upsides, it’s difficult to put your finger on just who will come out ahead. So you have to lean towards experience and contract size. Which in turn gives you the above depth chart. But if Game 1 has these line combos, Game 2 will have a different one as the Bruins search for the right trio. Beleskey is not going to see a better situation here versus what he was seeing in Anaheim, so you can probably expect a decline (but if you own him, don’t sell it that way in trade talks!). His addition to this depth chart doesn’t help his centermen any, and it hurts the other wingers as they will see less ice time.
