Why Malkin will lead the Penguins to victory. Picking the winners for Saturday's NHL games.

Tough slate of games for tonight. Last weekend I nailed four of six which isn’t too shabby. However, I feel a six for six coming on… is tonight the night? Time to #GETTHATMONEY.

Record: 24 – 12

Toronto @ Boston (7pm ET)

The Leafs have played very well as of late as they are 6-2-2 in their last 10 games. One of the main reasons for their solid play is James Reimer. Optimus Reim has stopped 167 of 174 shots over his last five games. That equates to a .960 SV% and coincidentally the Leafs are on a five-game winning streak. But it isn’t all Reimer. The Leafs are actually playing better as a team and the Mike Babcock effect may have just begun. The Bruins on the other hand are having identity issues as their days of stingy defence and solid goaltending seems to be long gone. Tuukka Rask has been terrible and the Bees blue line has many holes. However, the Bruins can score and with the Leafs having played last night… Jonathan Bernier should get the call. Bernier has been just as bad as Tuukka this season as he has a 3.17 GAA and a .895 SV%. Give me the Bruins here, especially if Bernier gets the call as Boston is well rested and at home.

Key Stat: Maple Leafs are 6-15 in the last 21 meetings in Boston.

Pick: Boston – Home Team Win – H

New York @ Florida (7pm ET)

The Rangers were steam rolling teams until they took their first lost in what seemed to be forever against the Bolts on Thursday. Are the Rangers going to lose two in a row now? No. Simply put, this Rangers team is very good. I’m not going to get into analytics here because there is no need to. Take the Rangers and let them do their thing.

Key Stat: Rangers are 6-0 in the last 6 meetings.

Pick: New York – Visitor Team Win – V

San Jose @ Pittsburgh (7pm ET)

I can’t put into words how much I hate Coach Mike Johnston. I will throw a party the day Johnston gets fired. But that party may have to wait until sometime in the New Year as the Pens continue to find ways to win. This is so sad to watch as although the Pens are stringing wins together they really look uncomfortable. One of those players who looks lost is Sidney Crosby. Whenever Sid gets a point now it seems like its breaking news… really? Anyways, the Pens are currently on a two-game win streak and Evgeni Malkin is a big reason for it as Geno has five points in his last two games. I feel the Pens will get the W here as they have managed to score eight goals in their last two games and with Geno running hot… give me the Pens.

Key Stat: Penguins are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. Western Conference.

Pick: Pittsburgh – Home Team Win – H

Arizona @ Winnipeg (7pm ET)

After starting the year hot the Jets have gone ice cold over the past few weeks. How cold? Over their past 10 games the Jets are 3-6-1. Now to be fair eight of those 10 games were on the road. The Jets will be well rested for this one as they have been off since Wednesday night. The Coyotes on the other hand haven’t been too bad as of late as they have actually managed to leap frog the Jets by one point in the Western Conference. But something tells me the Jets will change that and get the W tonight. Give me the Jets in a game they should win with relative ease.

Key Stat: Coyotes are 1-6 in the last 7 meetings.

Pick: Winnipeg – Home Team Win – H

Colorado @ Washington (7pm ET)

The Caps have had a rather solid start to the season as they currently sit third in the Eastern Conference with a 12-5-1 record. However, I think they have another gear in them. The Avalanche are nearing the end of a seven-game road trip which began really well but has turned for the worst as they come into this one on a two-game losing streak. One of those losses came against the Leafs who managed to pop five by them showing that Reto Berra is in fact human. The Capitals are hungry and they love to play on Saturday, especially at the Verizon Center. I think Ovechkin and the Caps will feast on Berra in what should be a high scoring affair. Take the Caps.

Key Stat: Capitals are 4-0 in their last 4 Saturday games.

Pick: Washington – Home Team Win – H

Buffalo @ Dallas (8pm ET)

Not going to lie but this game is a little tricky as the Sabres have been playing some really solid hockey although coming into this one on a three-game losing streak. The Sabres also welcomed back Evander Kane this week as he returned from injury. The future is bright for Buffalo but the present has never been so bright for Dallas. The Stars have finally made that step into an elite team this season as they currently sit atop of the Western Conference. One of the main reasons for their early success is their PP which has been clicking at a potent 28.3%. For the Sabres to win this one they will have to stay out of the penalty box and their goaltending will have to make 30 saves plus. I think the Stars will simply be too much for the Sabres and pepper the crap out of whoever is in the crease. Give me the Stars.

Key Stat: Home team is 12-4 in the last 16 meetings.

Pick: Dallas – Home Team Win – H
