Marian Gaborik will undergo hip surgery and will be sidelined for 10 weeks. This will take him past the trade deadline, thereby making a trade to another team unlikely. As recently as this past summer, I had people arguing with me in the forum about his Band-Aid Boy status. Needless to say, it was funny then and it's funnier now. He is on the executive committee of the Band-Aid Boy club! I have never owned him in any league in any format - and I play about six leagues per season.

The Whitney vs. Letang vs. Goligoski PP story continues. Whitney logged over 30 minutes of ice time and eight minutes of PP time. Goli saw 16:44 and 2:44 and had an assist. Letang was a minus-2 and played 13:55 and just a minute or so on the PP. I think eventually Goli and Whitney will man the first unit, and Letang ... I'm not sure where he'll fit in.

Dustin Jeffrey scored his first career goal last night.

Tyler Kennedy could be back in the lineup tomorrow after being out for a month with a sprained knee.

Evgeny Artyukhin may be pointless in two games, but he played more in those two games than he has in any two games since November 1st/5th.

Rinne stopped 30 of 32 shots but took the loss, which doesn't make this drawn out battle for No.1 any shorter.

Meanwhile, Jason Labarbera won his Canucks debut stopping 31 of 32 shots. This is a great change of scenery for him. I think he'll get the bulk of the starts until Luongo returns.

Alex Tanguay separated his left shoulder and is shelved until mid-February. The team recalled Kyle Chipchura and Max Pacioretty to replace him. Pacioretty, a natural left winger, should get into the lineup this time and is worth watching. Habs have a habit of making an immediate impact.

Carey Price has a lower body injury and is day to day. Halak will get the next start and Marc Denis will back him up.

Sergei Kostitsyn also missed practice with an undisclosed injury.
