Crosby did not take part in practice this morning. He maintains to the Gazette that the injury is not serious, and his status for tomorrow's game won't be known until the morning.

Sergei Gonchar skated with the team today for the first time. He is still 6-8 weeks away, but this is promising enough to make me think it could be closer to "6".

Daniel Briere played 19 minutes for the Phantoms last night and told the Daily News that he felt pretty good. He will play one more game for the Phantoms before playing for the Flyers.

Claude Giroux will be back in the Flyers lineup tonight, returning from a concussion. Andreas Nodl was sent back to the Phantoms.

The Leafs have recalled Anton Stralman from the Marlies.

Rangers' prospect Artem Anisimov, ranked 68th on my prospects list, has 41 points in 41 games for Hartford of the AHL. That's nearly as much as all of last season. I think he'll get a long look in New York in the fall.

Torrey Mitchell is ready to return. He will play for a week or two in Worcester to get his timing. in San Jose, he is a 40-point forward who could be a 60-point player in a couple of years.

The Devils have officially signed Brendan Shanahan to a one-year deal. Myself, I'm not interested in picking him up in any league, except perhaps for some playoff pools. I would guess 20 points in 35 games this season for Shanny.

Carey Price will almost certainly miss the All-Star game and could be out even longer than that. Price owners should start to panic. Hopefully, the team is very careful with this so it doesn't happen year after year.

Tomas Fleischmann has seven points in the last seven games that he has played.

Michael Nylander again played just 11 minutes last night.

Sidney Crosby went to the bench in a lot of pain late in the third. He later left the game. He appeared to hurt his left leg as he went into the boards. Crosby later said it wasn't too bad. We shall see.

Rich Peverley saw 18:53 in his Atlanta debut and was on the second PP unit. He failed to produce, but will get another chance I'm sure. The Thrashers are desperate for scoring depth and if he can provide even a glimmer of it, they will give him tons of opportunity. He's not worth a pick up at this time, but I'll be watching.
