The Avs have signed Milan Hejduk to a one-year deal worth $2.6 million. Look for a 65-game season and probably coming in around 55 points.   Montreal prospect Louis Leblanc will miss the next four to six months due to shoulder surgery. Leblanc is ranked 28 on my prospects list and is featured in [...]

Hossa

Having recently graduated from university I’ve found myself feeling a bit nostalgic so I hope you can indulge me a bit while I hop in my Delorian and crank‘er up to 88 MPH!

It’s the 2006-07 NHL season and I am a bright eyed and bushy tailed freshman. The world is my oyster, even as a sports fan. After all, the Oilers did just make it to the Stanley Cup Final losing in game seven (Gosh Darnit!) so what could go wrong? Yes I certainly felt like I was on top of the world and fantasy hockey players did too.

Clowe is a game time decision.   Tampa Bay has signed winger Richard Panik to an entry-level contract. The skilled winger has top six upside.   Colorado expects both Stefan Elliott and Tyson Barrie to contend for roster spots this fall. Does that mean they don't plan on selecting a defenseman at #2 in [...]

On the day Dobber welcomes a daughter, the family of enforcer Derek Boogaard is mourning after losing their son. Sad news, no matter how you felt about his style of play. Boogaard was 28. No cause of death at this time.   Congrats to Dobber - his wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl [...]

Sunday ramblings will be up around 11:30 EST.   RIP, Boogeyman. Thoughts/prayers to his family and friends. 28 is way too young.   Malhotra's eye doesn't look too bad here. He has skated three days in a row now. A long, long shot to return, but great news for next season and beyond – [...]

Top 10 Keeper League Right Wingers

Kane

The first edition of this list was put together last year, and it is something I am going to update at least once each season. I have a few general rules when it comes to building a team in a fantasy hockey keeper league. One of the more important ones is to not plan beyond a two or three year window. You are not building a real NHL club, and too often I see poolies place too much of an emphasis on youth and prospects instead of trying to add players who could help them win now.

Since 1940, Kesler, Gretzky, Hull & Oates only players in on 75%+ of team's goals in a single playoff series. Per Jeff Patterson (Team 1040). Robin Lehner continued his fantastic playoff run for Binghamton with a 35 save shutout last night. The Baby Sens now have a two game lead over the Charlotte Checkers. [...]

Berglund

At the start of the 2008-09 season, the number 25 overall selection of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Patrik  Berglund, made the jump from the Swedish leagues straight to the NHL. He had just won a silver medal at the WJC before and did not fail to impress in his rookie year, scoring 21 goals and 47 points in 76 NHL games.

Manny Malhotra skated for the sixth straight day today.   Patrice Bergeron also skated and looks to be progressing. He left before the contact began, but could be back for game three or four if he continues to improve at this rate.   Gates has posted his Top 100 Roto Players for May. Access [...]
